Jonty Hurwitz

An international sensation, Jonty Hurwitz is on a quest to merge the worlds of science and art. His creations are unique and unprecedented, igniting the viewer’s imagination and challenging us to question where science ends and art begins. Using computational software in an artistic manner, Hurwitz embodies the artist-scientist archetype, bending the rules and redefining what is possible in contemporary sculpture. His anamorphic works stand at the forefront of innovation, combining advanced technology with artistic vision to create sculptures that transform depending on perspective. These logic-defying pieces invite viewers into a new way of seeing, where perception itself becomes part of the artwork.

On a mission to merge the worlds of science and art, Jonty Hurwitz has developed a distinctive creative process rooted in both disciplines. Each work begins with a scientific or physical idea, which he explores to determine whether reality can be distorted in a new and unexpected way. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences and great minds such as Leonardo da Vinci, Hurwitz combines computational modeling with cutting-edge technologies to construct physical forms that are often only recognizable through reflection.

His sculptures are rare within the art world, positioning him as a pioneer of anamorphic art. They offer a moment of escape from the chaos of everyday life while encouraging viewers to explore the relationship between perception, logic, and imagination.

Among his most striking works are Emerging from Water – Silver and The Dart Frog, both of which challenge traditional ways of seeing. In Emerging from Water – Silver, Hurwitz captures the complexity of life through layered materials and high-precision techniques, forming an image that reveals itself only through reflection. Meanwhile, The Dart Frog uses mirrored surfaces to project a distorted yet coherent form that changes depending on the viewer’s vantage point, offering a completely new way of looking at the world.

By pushing the boundaries of traditional sculpture, Hurwitz challenges our perception of reality and sparks dialogue between art and science. This intersection is not new—figures like Leonardo da Vinci have long explored it—but Hurwitz brings it into a contemporary context through technology, innovation, and visual experimentation.

Through his one-of-a-kind sculptures, Hurwitz invites us to reconsider how we see the world. His work is both visually striking and intellectually engaging, offering a rare fusion of scientific precision and artistic imagination.
